Gearing Up for a Bike Trip and Car Stuff

Ended up buying a Kawasaki Versys 650 this year. Always wanted to get a motorcycle at some point, but never really lived in a decent area where I didn’t fear that the idiotic drivers in the area wouldn’t kill me because they’re staring at their cell phones instead of keeping their eyes on the road (looking at you upstate SC drivers). Having moved back to the rural Midwest, the drivers are so much better here - only really had one close call since moving back.

Half of being smart is knowing what you are dumb about.

This quote from an old David Gerrold SciFi novel is very relevant today in regards to coming from a traditional sysadmin background and transitioning into cloud roles. There is so much to learn, but when it really gets down to brass tacks, while a good chunk of your knowledge will transfer over, there is just so much involved that is brand new. What do you mean? Well, a lot of concepts will carry over from legacy to cloud.
